Blood Drives Cancelled But 1 Added; Martin’s Raising Money For United Way

The latest announcements include:
• American Red Cross announced that, due to new restrictions and space for social distancing requirements, they have to cancel their mobile blood drives at Mad Anthony's, Martin's and the YMCA.
To fill those voids, they are going to have a blood drive at the Center Lake Pavilion on March 30. Hours will be 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The April 14 blood drive at the Pavilion will go on as scheduled, from noon to 6 p.m.
Rapidly changing numbers of patients have caused rapidly changing regulations to be imposed.
• Beginning today, all 20 Martin’s Super Markets locations in Indiana and Michigan will be taking customer contributions to support their county’s United Way effort to respond to both short-term and long-term needs of individuals impacted by COVID-19. One hundred percent of the donations will aid local COVID-19 relief efforts and donations will be distributed to the United Way chapters weekly.
Cashiers will be able to ring up any amount that customers wish to donate. “Typically, stores would collect cash contributions in buckets at checkout lanes,” Simeri-McClellan explained, “but to curb the handling of those containers and cash, donations will be added to customers’ grocery purchase as requested.”
Online shoppers may donate via Martin’s “Groceries to Go” site https://martinsgroceriestogo.com when they place an order for pickup or delivery.
The branches included in the effort are: United Way of Cass County, United Way of Elkhart and LaGrange counties, United Way of Kosciusko County, United Way of Marshall County, United Way of Southwest Michigan and United Way of St. Joseph County.
• The Milford Town Council regular meeting scheduled for Monday, April 13 at 7 p.m. has been cancelled.
• The Kosciusko County Area Plan Commission hearing, scheduled for April 1, the Kosciusko County Hearing Officer meeting scheduled for April 13 the Kosciusko County BZA meeting scheduled for April 14 and the Syracuse BZA meeting scheduled for April 16 are cancelled.
• The Kosciusko County Drainage Board meeting which was scheduled for 9 a.m. today was cancelled. The next meeting is at 9 a.m. Thursday, April 23 in the old courtroom at the courthouse.
• Grace College officials announced that on-campus classes are suspended through the end of the spring 2020 semester. Grace’s courses will continue to be delivered remotely, and the commencement ceremony scheduled for May is suspended.
Grace residential halls will remain closed, and in-person campus events are cancelled for the remainder of the semester.
The college will post weekly chapels via YouTube and its residence life staff is finding virtual ways to connect with students. Student involvement opportunities will include documentary viewings, guided workouts and even a virtual concert with The Gray Havens.
Grace’s admissions office is offering live stream visit days and virtual visits with admissions counselors, faculty, coaches and students ambassadors at www.grace.edu/visit. Additionally, due to the postponement of SAT/ACT testing, Grace has gone test-optional for fall 2020 applicants above a 2.5 GPA. Students that complete Grace’s free application at www.grace.edu/apply will not be required to submit test scores and are eligible for financial aid, including merit scholarships.

• Lakeland Financial Corp., parent company of Lake City Bank, announced that, due to the emerging public health concerns relating to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and to protect the health and well-being of its shareholders and employees, the company’s annual shareholder meeting will now be held virtually. A proxy supplement was filed Wednesday with the Securities Exchange Commission with additional information concerning the virtual meeting, which shareholders are urged to read in its entirety.
Though company shareholders will not be able to attend the annual meeting in person, virtual attendance capabilities will provide shareholders the ability to participate and ask questions during the meeting. Additionally, the company’s shareholders will be deemed to be “present” if they access the annual meeting through the virtual platform and they will be able to vote their shares at the annual meeting, or revoke or change a previously submitted vote, through the virtual platform.
The virtual meeting will be held on the same date and time as previously announced, April 14 at 4:30 p.m. (local time).
Shareholders will be able to attend the meeting online, vote their shares electronically and submit their questions during the meeting by visiting www.virtualshareholdermeeting.com/LKFN2020. In light of the foregoing, the company urges shareholders to consider voting and submitting proxies in advance of the annual meeting using one of the available methods described in the proxy materials previously provided to the company’s shareholders.
