Milford Approves Emergency Resolutions

By Amanda Bridgman-
The council unanimously approved for Clerk-Treasurer Tricia Gall to be able to modify the hours of town hall, pay all routine claims of the town without the prior approval of the council and that she is authorized to take any steps as advised by the town attorney during the emergency then promptly notify the council. The regularly scheduled April council meeting also was cancelled.
Also adopted by the council was a pandemic/public health emergency leave policy that identifies any employee will be asked to stay home if they test positive for coronavirus, show symptoms of the virus, live with someone with the virus or have regular contact with someone with the virus or if the employee has traveled to areas deemed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to be high-risk areas.
If an employee needs to stay home, all full- and part-time employees will receive their regular compensation for their average work hours, and salary employees will receive their regular salary pay. Employees who are deemed high risk may be able to stay at home. An employee also may use the pandemic/public health emergency leave to care for a child who is home because the schools are closed or to care for a child who is quarantined because of the virus.
Essential employees will be determined on a case-by-case basis by the department head, as will any decision for an employee to work from home.
The council also agreed to halt disconnect orders for water and wastewater services, along with stopping any fees or penalties until the COVID-19 emergency is over.
The town spring clean up scheduled for April 16-18 was postponed.
