Alfred Walter Paul McDonald, 54, of 602 S. McClellan St., Warsaw, failed to show up Wednesday in Kosciusko Superior Court III to be sentenced for charges stemming from a 2018 incident. McDonald was arrested at the time and charged with criminal confinement, a Level 5 felony; and strangulation and domestic battery causing moderate bodily injury, Level 6 felonies.
According to the probable cause affidavit, on June 11, 2018, Warsaw police responded to McDonald’s residence after reports of a man dragging a woman across the street by her hair came in to central dispatch. McDonald had fled the residence when police arrived, but police spoke with the female victim who was injured and said McDonald has been severely mentally and physically abusing her on a daily basis for roughly eight months and that she is constantly living in fear of him. According to court papers, the woman told police McDonald would confine her to a bedroom and not allow her to leave bedroom. If the woman needed to use the bathroom, she was forced to use a bucket McDonald would give to her. If McDonald had to use the bathroom, he would make the woman go into the bathroom with him so he could “keep and eye on her,” court papers state.
On the morning of the incident, according to the affidavit, McDonald woke up and began beating the woman and eventually choked her until she lost consciousness. The abuse only stopped when McDonald heard something in the driveway and left the bedroom to go see what it was. It was then the woman escaped through a window, however, McDonald chased her down, drug her by her hair back to the residence and continued to beat her, court papers state.
Upon a search of the home, court papers state police found the metal can the woman was forced to use the restroom in located in the bedroom.
Two months after the incident occurred, the female victim wrote a letter to the judge asking for the no-contact order be lifted, citing that she loves McDonald, wishes to marry him and that they are “a power couple,” according to court records.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of McDonald is asked to call the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office.
