Raymond Francisco Saldana, of North Manchester and formerly of Warsaw, passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2020, at his residence at the age of 71.

He was born on Jan. 5, 1949, in Las Vegas, Nev., to Rose Caveness Saldana and Peter Saldana. On May 7, 1994, he was married to Kathryn Elaine Method Saldana, who survives.

Raymond was a proud U.S. Marine enlisting on June 1, 1967, and served until his honorable discharge in 1969.  He moved to Warsaw in 1992 and worked as a welder for Ameri-Kan Industries in Warsaw, retiring in 2001. He loved to cook for his family, enjoyed telling stories and was a collector of guns and knives. Everyone that had the pleasure of knowing Raymond knew just how much he loved his Harley and his dogs, but he loved his family even more. He will be remembered as a hardworking husband, father and grandfather and will be forever missed by his family and many friends.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 25 years, Kathryn Elaine Saldana, North Manchester; two sons: Matt (Tammy) Winters, Utah; Colt (Sasha) Saldana, Syracuse; four daughters: Rose Van Meter, Wisconsin; Julie Steen, Texas; Amanda Brandenburg, North Manchester; and La Tisha (Daniel) Walters, Warsaw. He also leaves behind 20 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four brothers: Peter Saldana, Nevada; Walter (Laura) Saldana, Warsaw; Ronald (Brad) Saldana, Warsaw; and Rick (Debbie) Saldana, Nevada.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Raymond’s life will be celebrated with a memorial service at noon on Friday, March 20 at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, and officiated by Pastor Jim Zaugg. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post #49, V.F.W. #1126, both of Warsaw, and active members of the Marine Honor Guard. Burial will take place at a later date at Oakwood Cemetery of Warsaw.
