Winona Lake Closes Town Hall, Parks To The Public

Beginning today, until further notice, Winona Lake Town Hall will be closed to the public. Payments may be made using the drop box located outside the town hall along the street by the mailbox or online through the website at www.winonalake.net. Residents using the drop box to pay need to pay using check or money order, not cash.
Town employees will remain working during this time. Anyone with utility or permit/zoning concerns or questions can contact employees between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. at 574-267-7581.
All activities at the Senior Center have been suspended and the building will be closed. Anyone who had a rental there will receive a refund.
All town parks, shelters and restrooms also will be closed. Allebach said the town debated on whether or not to close the parks, but ultimately decided it was the right thing to do. The Heritage Trail and Lake City Greenway will remain open to be used by the public at the user’s discretion.
All town utilities such as trash, recycling and sewer, as well as maintenance, will continue to operate. The Winona Lake Police Department and Fire Department also will continue to operate as usual and continue to provide for the safety needs of the community.
“The procedures listed are some immediate steps that have been taken to reduce the risk of exposure in public places. Please visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) website for all practices we would like the citizens of Winona Lake to consider,” Allebach said.

“It is our goal to keep the public informed and to be able to continue town business as usual while keeping the community safe,” he said. “We plan to update the public as often as possible and encourage the community to support one another during this time.
