More Cancellations, Other Information Released Regarding Coronavirus

Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb announced the first death in Indiana related to COVID-19 on Monday, as well as new actions being taken by the state, including no in-person events of more than 50 people.

The adult from Marion County died at a Community Health Network hospital Monday morning. The person, who was over age 60, had been hospitalized as a COVID-19 patient and also suffered from underlying medical conditions.

In response to the coronavirus and actions being taken by the state, more announcements regarding local cancellations and postponements were made, as well as other information, due to the pandemic.

• The Warsaw Community Public Library will close beginning today, March 17 through Monday, April 13. This includes the cancellation of programs occurring inside and outside the building, and the closing of study rooms and meeting rooms through May 4.

The library plans to reopen with normal business hours on Tuesday, April 14, but will continue to assess the situation to determine if a longer closure is warranted.   Updates can be found on its Facebook page and warsawlibrary.org.

During this time, patrons should utilize WCPL’s array of resources, including books, magazines, music, shows, research tools and more to download and stream at warsawlibrary.org.

• The North Manchester Public Library is closed for the next two weeks, until Monday, March 30. This decision comes after thorough analysis of available information, including transmission patterns in other states, contact with the Wabash County Health Department and review of CDC guidelines, according to a news release from the library.

With the exception of hotspots, no materials will be due while the library is closed. The library does not want its staff handling large amounts of items from the book drop, so keep your items. The library will not charge any late fees during this time. Hotspots should be returned in the outside book bin on their due date.
