Kathryn Ruth Hirschy Hoyt, of Grace Village Retirement Community of Winona Lake, passed away at 8:19 a.m. on Monday, March 16, 2020, at the age of 98.

She was born on July 29, 1921, in Berne, to Esther Sprunger and Norman Hirschy. On Aug. 22, 1942, she was married to Solon W. Hoyt. They shared 70 years of marriage together before he passed away on Feb. 21, 2013.

Kathryn moved to Kosciusko County, in 1987, where she was a member of Lakeland Conservative Grace Brethren Church of Warsaw. She along with her late husband, Solon, dedicated their lives to serving the Lord as missionaries in Argentina for 43 years. Kathryn loved art and had only recently begun painting. She was a very well-loved resident at Grace Village Retirement Community in Winona Lake.  Always friendly to everyone she met, she never met a stranger. She will be remembered as a loyal and dedicated missionary wife, mother and grandmother.

She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Rita (Michael) Koch, Upland; three sons: Aldo (Alice) Hoyt, Denver, Colo.; Ivan (Kimberly) Hoyt, Las Vegas, Nev.; and Alan (Raquel) Hoyt, Warsaw. She also leaves behind her daughter-in-law, Mary Hoyt, Las Vegas, Nev.; brother, Daniel Hirschy, Waterville, Maine; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.  

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Lynn Hoyt; two sisters: Joyce Derosset and Lois Langdon; two brothers: Harlan and Phillip Hirschy; and daughter-in-law, Sharon Hoyt.                

Kathryn’s life will be celebrated with a service at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 20 at Community Grace Brethren Church, 909 S. Buffalo St., Warsaw. There will be an hour of visitation prior to the service from noon to 1 p.m. Burial will follow with a graveside service at Oakwood Cemetery of Warsaw.

Arrangements were entrusted to Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw.
