He was born Aug. 12, 1944, in Elwood, to Clarence F. and Goldie Ruby Welches Gillum. He began barbering in Warsaw, had his own shop for a number of years in North Webster and retired in Mesa. On Aug. 14, 1982, he married Louie Zent Smith, who survives.
Ron is also survived by four sons: Tim (Deb) Gillum, of Syracuse; Todd Gillum, of Fort Wayne; Greg Smith, of Warsaw; and Brian (Ranai) Smith, of Warsaw; as well as nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Jerry Gillum and his identical twin Donald Gillum.
