Warsaw Schools Announces Changes In Food Distribution
By Staff Report-
Beginning July 13, children up through age 18 may continue receiving meals each Monday and Thursday through Aug. 6 at Lakeview Middle School, according to a news release from Warsaw Community Schools. Children do not need to be present, but a new registration is required for the meals beginning in July.
In response to the COVID-19 public health emergency, the USDA established a waiver to support access to nutritious meals while minimizing potential exposure to the coronavirus. This allows families to pick up multiple days of meals at one time. The new plan for July and August will offer a Monday and a Thursday pick up. Every Monday, three days of meals and half a gallon of milk will be available. On Thursdays, four days of meals and half a gallon of milk will be available for each child registered. All children in the household, up through age 18, may be registered. No adults.
Families do not have to be on free or reduced benefits to receive these meals, according to the release. New meal pickup times are each Monday and Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. at Lakeview Middle School, 848 E. Smith St., Warsaw. Register online at www.wcsfoodandnutrition.org. Direct questions and requests for special meal accommodations to Marci Franks at [email protected].
