A Warsaw man is facing multiple charges after allegedly pulling a fire alarm and then wanting to fight responders and police.

Johnny Shotts, 36, of 1303 Husky Trail, Warsaw, was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail at 12:43 p.m. Sunday and faces charges for intimidation, a Level 6 felony; resisting law enforcement, a Level 6 felony; battery to a public safety official, a Level 6 felony; obstructing or interfering with a firefighter, a Class A misdemeanor; and false informing, a Class B misdemeanor.

According to the probable cause affidavit filed Tuesday in Kosciusko Superior Court I, on Sunday Warsaw Police were dispatched to 1303 Husky Trail in reference to Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory firefighters requesting an officer for an out-of-control individual.

Upon arrival, WPD Officer Chris Brown observed Shotts standing in the road waving traffic around him. When Brown activated his police lights, Shotts returned to the apartment complex parking lot. Brown spoke with firefighters on the scene who told Brown that when they arrived after receiving a report that a fire alarm had been set off, they were met by Shotts who told the firemen that he “pulled the fire alarm because ‘Jeff’ was keeping bombs in his office and that Shotts was going to blow the place up,” according to court papers.

At this point, according to the affidavit, Shotts began coming toward the firefighter, yelling and putting up his dukes to fight. When Brown stepped between the men and attempted to detain Shotts, Shotts allegedly began backing away, telling Brown not to touch him and that if Brown did then he would take Brown’s gun and shoot Brown and then himself.

Then, according to the affidavit, Shotts again got the firefighter in his sights and ran after him with his fists in the air. At this point, the firefighter was able to deflect the attack and Brown was able to tackle Shotts and take him into custody. While he was being handcuffed, according to court papers, Shotts attempted to bite Brown.

Police and firefighters checked “Jeff’s” office and found no evidence of bombs or bomb-making materials, and there was also no evidence of any fires in the building.

Shotts’ bond was set at $5,250.
