On Friday, June 19, from 8 to 9 p.m., the public is invited to join ONE Warsaw in a prayer virgil at the county courthouse square in downtown Warsaw to celebrate Juneteenth.

Juneteenth celebrates the end of slavery and the history and accomplishments of black Americans.

This year, the event will welcome speakers Joseph Banks, Pastor Denny Bollenbacher and Walter Johnson of New Beginnings Community Church, Atwood; Marsha Cook, retired educator from Warsaw Community Schools; Dr. David Hoffert, superintendent of WCS; Dudley Allen, local business owner; DJ Ray Cruz, Sonic Memory Productions; Interfaith Group, and Father Ryan Fischer of St. Anne’s Episcopal Church, Warsaw.

“In the spirit of prayer and healing for our community, we recommend that you join us with social distancing guidelines and masks worn. The event will be livestreamed as well,” according to a news release from ONE Warsaw.

ONE Warsaw nonprofit was reorganized in 2019 with the first annual Community Inclusion Event last fall with the mission of supporting, celebrating, and educating all peoples.
