Man Faces Fraud And Theft Charges

A South Whitley man is facing two felony charges in regards to using a credit card for a company he no longer worked for.

Zachary Scott King, 28, is charged with fraud, a Level 6 felony; and theft, a Level 6 felony.

According to the probable cause affidavit, the Warsaw Police Department was contacted Jan. 31 by an employee of Ranger Materials who stated King was a former employee of the company and had been terminated on June 30. During King’s employment, he had been provided a company vehicle, as well as a credit card to be used solely for gas for the company vehicle. However, when he was terminated he had to return the company vehicle and credit card.

According to court documents, King used the company credit card for gas for a personal vehicle 36 times, for a total monetary loss of $2,401.05. The charges to the card were between July 7 and Jan. 13. WPD obtained surveillance footage of some of the purchases.

King was booked into Kosciusko County Jail at 1:01 p.m. Thursday, with his booking documents listing his address as Claypool. His bond was initially set at $4,500.
