GOSHEN – Peggy Joan Skirvin, 89, died Sunday, June 7, 2020, at The Maples at Waterford Crossing.

She was born July 23, 1930, in Rochester, to Russell and Bessie Baldwin Voorhees.

On Dec. 28, 1952, she married Gene Skirvin. He died Sept. 25, 1991.

Survivors include three children: Diana (Stephen) Woolley, Syracuse; Gene Alan (Kelly) Skirvin, Plymouth; and Lisa (David) Zollinger, Goshen; six grandchildren: Mariah and Staci Woolley, Evan (Kayla), Hayden and Payton Skirvin and Clayton (Lyndsey) Zollinger; and a brother, Russell Lynn (Sandy) Voorhees, Fort Wayne.

Mrs. Skirvin graduated from Rochester High School and Manchester College with a degree in education. She was a member of Morris Chapel United Methodist Church, Pierceton; Retired Teachers’ Association; Crown International Retiree’s and Barbee Lake Association.

She worked for Crown International, retiring in 1984, and spent her retirement years on Little Barbee Lake and supporting her grandchildren and attending their events. She attended Friday night high school football games for 70 years.

Visitation will be Friday, June 12 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Cremation will take place and a celebration of life service will be held 11:30 a.m. Saturday, June 13 at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. The Rev. Holly White, Morris Chapel United Methodist Church, will officiate. Her cremated remains will be buried next to her husband at Olive West Cemetery, Elkhart.

Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen, is assisting the family with arrangements.
