Tippy Creek Winery owners Lori and Daniel Richcreek attended the meeting for approval of a beer and wine retailer license for a restaurant. The winery is at 5920 N. CR 200E, Leesburg.
Lori said they initially applied for a beer-only retailer license as wine sales are covered under their federal wine manufacturing permit.
When the vote was called, Lori joined in with a resounding “aye,” for which she quickly apologized and everyone laughed.
“We knew you’d vote yes,” Tackett said.
A renewal for a beer, wine and liquor license for restaurant Mad Anthony Lake City Taphouse, 113 E. Center St., Warsaw, with no violations, was approved.
Two permit requests were continued:
• A transfer of ownership for Hazera Begum, a beer and wine dealer license for a grocery store, doing business as H & E Express Mart, 2518 E. Center St., Warsaw.
No one representing the grocery attended and no sign was posted.
Smith asked how many times a permit request could be continued and Tackett said three times. After three continuations the board can either approve, deny or send the permit back to the state, she said. Hazera Begum’s application has now been continued twice.
• EMME Designs’s request for a beer and wine retailer license for a restaurant also was continued until next month as no one appeared for the meeting nor was a sign posted.
EMME Designs is doing business as Board and Brush Warsaw, 210 S. Buffalo St., Warsaw.
Tackett said the Alcohol Tobacco Commission’s local meetings will continue virtually through the third week in June and the group can hopefully see each other at the courthouse at the July 2 meeting.
The virtual meetings were set up because of COVID-19-related restrictions in public buildings. Tackett said she has now contacted all the courthouses to see if they’ll be open to the public in July and there shouldn’t be a problem meeting in person.
