According to Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Sgt. Chris Francis, around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday a report of a semi tractor-trailer rearending another semi tractor-trailer at the area of U.S. 30, east of CR 250E, was reported.
First responders requested help from North Webster, Leesburg and Winona Lake to help with manpower to extricate the driver who rearended the first semi.
That driver was hauling concrete retaining wall sections and, for an unknown reason, struck the semi in front of him.
The driver, whose information was not available as of press time, was flown by Lutheran Air to Fort Wayne for treatment for a foot injury and minor burns, according to Francis.
The city of Warsaw put out an emergency alert during the accident, telling motorists to avoid the area, and Kosciusko County Central Dispatch reported receiving multiple 911 calls asking why traffic was backed up.
