“It was decided at last night’s South Whitley Fall Festival meeting, to cancel the upcoming 2020 festival,” according to a Facebook post on the festival’s page. “This decision came in part by our belief that some of the larger events would be more difficult to maintain CDC guidelines for proper social distancing. Also some amusements such as the train ride and bounce houses would be too difficult to keep clean throughout the weekend.
“Another factor in our decision is that some of the corporate sponsors were reluctant to participate financially during these uncertain times. We understand and support their decision.
“Although the festival as you have come to know it has been canceled until next year, we wanted to have some sort of celebration for families. We looked over the schedule to see what events we could easily maintain CDC guidelines with.
“We selected a few events from our normal schedule, and added a few new events we are sure you’ll enjoy them. Watch our Facebook page for updated information.”
