Clifford Tackett, age 68, of Elkhart, and previously a longtime resident of Palestine, passed away on Thursday, July 23, 2020, at 10:25 p.m. in Elkhart General Hospital.

Born on Dec. 2, 1951, he was the son of the late Andrew and Gettie M. Tackett. Growing up in Floyd County, Ky., Clifford, known to many as “Coupe,” was one of nine children. He was married to Teresa “Terrie” Tackett on July 4, 1998; the pair made their home near her family in Palestine for many years. Terrie preceded him in passing on April 17, 2019.

Clifford was a kind, caring man with a big heart. He loved the Lord and was a member of Living Hope Ministries in Warsaw. He also loved time spent with his family and adored his nieces and nephews. He was a fun-loving jokester and a huge fan of country and gospel music. Professionally, he had worked with Crystal Lake and Creighton Brothers Eggs for more than 25 years.

In addition to his wife, Clifford was preceded in passing by three brothers: Cameron, Carson and Clayton; and by two sisters: Mildred Lafferty and Sharon Rose.

He is survived by his son, M. Cory Smith, of Elkhart; two sisters: Jewell Mullins, of Fort Wayne; and Katherine (Jimmy Ray) Johnson, of Kentucky; brother, Rudolph Tackett, of Kentucky; mother-in-law, Sharon Palmer, of Palestine; sister-in-law, Linda (Roy) Cervantes, of Columbia City; and by numerous nieces and nephews.

A Life Celebration® is planned with Titus Funeral Home, 2000 E. Sheridan St., Warsaw with visitation on Monday, Aug. 3 beginning at 10 a.m. At noon, Pastor Hedgel Perry will officiate Clifford’s funeral service. Committal will follow in Warsaw’s Oakwood Cemetery.
