The Scout group of 19 persons took off for the West on July 5 and returned two weeks later. They camped at Devil’s Tower in Wyoming one night trying to fix dinner between rain storms. In Cody, they visited the Buffalo Bill Center of the West and took in a rodeo. A full day was spent in the National Park of Yellowstone. Then they toured Dinosaur National Monument on their way to Moab, Utah. In Moab, the Scouts were divided into two groups for the three-hour journey into the desert to go rappelling. There was a 100-foot rappel and a somewhat smaller one. Between the two, they had to wiggle their way through a “slot canyon.” Part of It was waist high in water. The temperature was 110 degrees in the desert for both groups. While in Moab, they also visited Arches National Park. The final destination, was near Ouray, Colo., where they camped two nights in the mountains. One day they hiked up the Dallas Trail to over 11,000 feet to see the Lower Blue Lake. At the Bachelor Creek Gold Mine, they ate lunch before visiting the town of Ouray. The next day they headed home. Pictured (L to R) are, front row: Nicolas Balbuena-Kline, Drake Shilling, Ethan Rivich, Andy Ybarra, Max Stone; second row: Anita Kline, Drew Shilling, Aaron Herrera, Joe Hawn, Ariel Herrera, Andrew Frush, Joe Frush, Jeffrey Naundorf-Miller, Aiden Yaprik; back row: Neil Meeks, Ashton Irwin and Don Irwin.
