Randy is survived by his parents; his devoted wife, Lesa (Fritz) Hershberger; four children: Scott (Emily), of Granger; Adam (Hannah), of Bloomington; Chelsy and Hilary, both of Chicago; four grandchildren: Amelia, Eva, Aurora and Mila; and brother, Roger Hershberger, of Elkhart. Also surviving is stepmother, Kathie Hershberger; stepsisters, Leanne (Dan) Brekke and Sharon (Tom) Maddux, of Elkhart; and step-brother, Greg (Lisa) Whitehead, of Noblesville; along with multiple nieces and nephews.
Randy was born in Elkhart on Oct. 12, 1960, to Richard L. Hershberger and Shelby J. Hershberger Morrisey. He graduated from Elkhart Memorial High School in 1979 and attended Purdue University and Indiana University at South Bend where he graduated in 1983. On Aug. 8, 1981, he married Lesa Fritz at the Winding Waters Brethren Church in Elkhart.
Randy’s love for the lake, sunsets, full moons and campfires are legendary. He will be fondly remembered as the life of every party and the person to consult when anything needed to be fixed or built. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and those whom were blessed to have crossed his path.
A celebration of Randy’s life will be held on Saturday, Aug. 1 at 11 a.m. at Wellfield Botanic Gardens, 1011 N. Main St., Elkhart.
