SYRACUSE – Betty Haines, 98, of Warsaw, passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2020, at Mason’s Health Care.

She was born on Jan. 14, 1922, in Syracuse, to Elmer and Berniece Weimer Baugher. She was a 1940 graduate of Syracuse High School. On Aug. 17, 1945, she married Robert “Smokey” Haines, who preceded her in 2008.

She retired as a secretary for Wawasee High School. She was a longtime member of the North Webster United Methodist Church. She will be lovingly remembered for her wicked sense of humor, her piano playing abilities, her cooking and above all, her devotion to her family.

Betty is survived by her son, Steven (Patti) Haines, of Warsaw; two daughters: Cynthia (Chad) Beezley, of Wilmot; and Mary Sue (Andy) Hartley, of North Webster; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Along with her husband, Betty was preceded by two brothers and two sisters.

The family would like to thank the staff at Mason’s for their passion and loving care for Betty. Private family services will be held in Betty’s memory. Eastlund Funeral Home, Syracuse, is handling her arrangements.
