By Staff Report-
“The SHS Virtual Program seeks to maintain the student's and their family's Catholic identity and keep them integrated in the Sacred Heart faith community while continuing their academic growth and maintaining their social-emotional health. A student's and/or their family's health concerns or any related anxiety either way should not be a barrier to any of those purposes,” said Principal Mike McClain.
The highlights of the plan include an educational partnership between educators, students and parents anchored in faith, characterized by understanding and cooperation and opportunities for students to use Google Meets to interact with their classes at times, according to a news release from Sacred Heart School.
Students in the virtual program will have the opportunity to attend mass live with the rest of the school or watch the livestream of the mass.
Teachers will have “office hours” on certain days and times to video chat with students at home.
At times, students may need to come to the building for key assessments, assignments and/or books and STEM/PLTW material pick-up, stated the release.
If choosing the virtual option, the commitment is for one grading period. As the calendar approaches the next grading period, families will have the opportunity to continue the virtual program or join the in-person program.
Assignments and opportunities will start to be posted by 9 a.m. each day the school is open. The goal is to mirror what is being done in the classroom as much as possible with students continuing to engage in SHS’s high-quality academic programming.
Students will show evidence of work each school day between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. in order to keep them integrated into the school community.
Important upcoming dates for Sacred Heart School include Back-to-School nights on Aug. 10 and 11 and the first day of school on Aug. 12.
