INDOT Traffic Signal Replacement To Begin Thursday

July 21, 2020 at 2:52 p.m.

By Staff Report-

Due to some material delays, Indiana Department of Transportation will begin replacing seven traffic signals along Ind. 15/Detroit Street in Warsaw, starting at Market Street, working to the north, on Thursday, July 23.

Originally, the work was to begin on Monday.

New traffic signals and poles will be installed, and those signals will also coordinate with planned railroad safety systems.  ADA compliant pedestrian crossings will also be constructed at each intersection.  Traffic signals and intersections impacted will be  Prairie Street, Winona Avenue (both signals), Market Street, Center Street, Main Street and Fort Wayne Street.

Work may occur simultaneously at all seven traffic signal intersections, at times.

While pedestrian ramps are being replaced, there will be no pedestrian access at that intersection for several days.  Pedestrians will need to use the next cross street to safely cross the street.

The existing traffic signals will remain operational and in use until the new signals are completed. However, motorists should expect some lane restrictions on Ind. 15 during this project.
