Gwendolyn “Gwen” Mae Teeple, formerly of Leesburg, and a resident of Grace Village Retirement Community, Winona Lake, went to see her Lord and savior Jesus Christ at 6:53 p.m. on Sunday, July 12, 2020, at Grace Village Health Care at the age of 92.

She was born on Oct. 22, 1927, in LaPlace, Ill., to Mary Irene Miller Kreider and the Rev. Howard Joseph Kreider. Gwen spent most of her girlhood in Indiana, where her father served in many pastorates. The most significant event of her childhood was accepting Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior.

Gwen graduated from Milford High School in Milford in 1945 and attended a year at Manchester College in North Manchester. Her working life at the telephone company in Warsaw was happily interrupted by falling in love with World War II veteran Wayne E. Teeple, of Oswego. They were married by her father at New Salem Church on Nov. 7, 1948.

She was a familiar face in Leesburg, and over the 25 years that she had worked as a bank teller, she met and made many friends. Gwendolyn enjoyed the fellowship of her church family at New Salem Church. Her most important and proudest job was that of being a wife, mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed by her family.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 71 years, Wayne E. Teeple, Winona Lake; daughter, Pamela (Jeff) Carroll, Warsaw; son, Pastor Jack (Pati) Teeple, Hicksville, Ohio; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Joan Speicher; brother, Ron Kreider; and a great-grandson.

Gwendolyn’s life will be celebrated with a private family service at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, and officiated by her sons, Pastor Jack Teeple and Jeff Carroll. Burial will follow with a graveside service at Leesburg Cemetery, Leesburg.
