AKRON – Ronald L. Coplen, 78, formerly of Gilead and Akron, passed away at 9:20 a.m. Sunday, July 12, 2020, at Mason Health Rehabilitation Center of Warsaw.

Ronnie was born on March 20, 1942, in Miami County, to the late Wayne D. and Vada I. King Coplen. He was raised working on the family farm west of Gilead. He had worked for South End Motors of Akron and Kerlin Ford of Silver Lake, where he retired.

Survivors include a sister, Judy Kay Harvey, of Warsaw; a brother, Larry K. Coplen, of Syracuse; a niece, Pamela Harvey; and a nephew, Douglas and wife Lisa Harvey. He was preceded in death by his mother and father.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 15 at Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St., Akron. Burial will follow in the Gilead Cemetery. Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. For the health of all in attendance, we encourage the public to wear masks.
