NORTH MANCHESTER – Jack L. West, 89, of Plymouth, and formerly of Wabash, passed away at 7:45 p.m. on Saturday, July 11, 2020, at Miller’s Merry Manor, Plymouth.

He was born April 10, 1931, in North Manchester, to the late Harry Oren “Jack” West and Helen F. Hare West. On March 8, 1952, he married Norma J. Jefferson. She died Feb. 27, 1990. On Oct. 1, 1994, he married Ruth Grossman Sill. She survives.

He graduated from Central High School in North Manchester in 1949. During his high school years, Jack worked for Shively Dairy at North Manchester and later retired from Container Corp. in Wabash after 37 years.

Jack served from 1950 to 1953 in the United States Navy during the Korean War. Before Jack’s decline in health, he enjoyed going to car shows. When he was younger, Jack relished his time shooting guns. Even though Jack never had any children of his own, he thought of his stepchildren as his own and especially the grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth; stepson, Roger (Lisa) Sill, of Los Angeles, Calif.; stepdaughters: Karen (Jeffery) Worsham, of Bourbon; Rosanne Griggs, of Lafayette; and Rachel (Richard) Litchfield, of Englewood, Fla.; brother, Jim (Carol) West, of Fort Wayne; and 10 stepgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Norma; brothers, Kenneth, Thomas and Jerry West; and sisters, Doris Miller and Sharon West.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 14 at McKee Mortuary, 1401 Ind. 114 W., North Manchester, with Pastor J.P. Freeman officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, 600 Beckley St., North Manchester.
