LARWILL – Over the next few weeks and months, Whitko Community School Corporation will update parents on the current state of the pandemic as related to schools, specifically Whitko.

There are a lot of unknowns surrounding the 2020-21 school year and new information is received constantly, according to a news release from WCSC.

WCSC is continuing to hold meetings to work out details of the reopening plan and make appropriate revisions based on current guidance. WCSC will continue to do this through Friday. WCSC will ask the school board to approve the plan at the July 20 school board meeting, realizing that the document is subject to change based on guidance from CDC, Indiana State Department of Health, Indiana Department of Education and/or local county health officials. At this time, the school corporation will welcome back students Aug. 13 for the first day of in-person classes.

Governments and state agencies recognize there are risks associated with returning to school, stated the release. WCSC is taking precautions to limit those risks; however, there are families that may feel more comfortable not returning to a traditional school setting. The school corporation wants to be sensitive to those individualized situations and offer options for those families to remain a part of the Whitko family, receiving instruction from our teachers and staff while limiting or avoiding in-person interaction.
