Sabrina Starr Wright, 54, of 7440 S. CR 300E, Claypool, and also showing an address of 340 E. Levi Lee Road, #118, Warsaw, was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail at 2:46 p.m. Monday and faces charges for burglary, a Level 5 felony; theft, a Level 6 felony; and theft, a Class A misdemeanor.
According to the probable cause affidavit filed July 1 in Kosciusko Superior Court III, on June 7 Warsaw police responded to a report of a theft from the Barker Storage units.
Upon arrival, police spoke with a woman who said she began renting the storage unit in May and did not realize until June 7 when she returned that it had been broken into and items to the tune of $798 had been stolen.
Video surveillance footage provided by the company to police showed Wright and another woman at the storage unit and Wright taking items before loading them into a vehicle.
According to court records, the business’s manager told police that Wright had contacted him on June 4 and said the victim’s unit was not properly secure, but Wright never said she entered the unit and took items. The relationship between Wright and the business is not clear.
When police spoke to the other woman seen in the footage, the woman said Wright told her she had permission to take the items after making a “trade with an individual named Jay.”
When police spoke with Wright, according to the affidavit, she admitted she “made a bad decision and apologized for taking the items.”
Her bond was set at $10,250.
