By Staff Report-

American Legion Riders 253 recently donated $1,500 to the Kosciusko County Community Foundation’s KC Riley Kids Fund from their annual benefit ride held Aug. 17.

Each year, the Riders from American Legion Post 253 participate in this benefit ride that was originally organized by Mike Elwood. Elwood was the owner of Elwood’s Appliance Inc. in Waynedale and a member of the American Legion where he held many different positions, including commander. When Mike passed away in 2012 from cancer, the Riders chose to continue the ride each year in his memory.

The proceeds from the ride go into the KC Riley Kids Fund, which provides support to Riley Hospital and financial assistance to the families of Kosciusko County children who are patients at Riley Hospital. Generally, assistance to families is in the form of gas or food gift cards.

If your family is in need of assistance from the KC Riley Kids Fund, contact The Help Center at K21Health Services, 1515 Provident Drive, Warsaw or call 574-372-3500. For more information about how to support the KC Riley Kids Fund, contact the Community Foundation or visit online at www.kcfoundation.org/donate.

Since 1968, Kosciusko County Community Foundation Inc. has helped donors achieve their charitable dreams. The Community Foundation is a public charity that grants about $3 million annually in the areas of education, health, arts and culture, recreation, civic projects, environment and human services. Gifts made to the Community Foundation are tax-deductible. For more information, call 574-267-1901 or visit 102 E. Market St., Warsaw.
