A Bremen man who was doing work in another man’s home as part of his job for a pool company is accused of stealing two TVs while there.

Brandon Allen Hoffer, 30, was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail at 11:04 a.m. Thursday and faces a Level 4 felony burglary charge and a Level 6 felony theft charge.

According to the probable cause affidavit filed Jan. 17 in Kosciusko Superior Court III, on Dec. 6 North Webster police spoke with a man who said he was missing two TVs. The man told police the televisions were in the residence on Oct. 15, and that there was no sign of forced entry. The man told police that the key to his home was in a plastic bag on his kitchen table, which was hidden outside but was for his neighbor to use to let the Tredway Pools Plus workers in so they could winterize his hot tub, court papers state. After the work was completed, the man said the neighbor put the key back outside in its hiding place.

On Dec. 11, Tredway provided the names of employees that performed the work at the man’s home. The work was done Oct. 25, the affidavit states.

“Approximately two weeks later, Brandon Hoffer told (another man) he had a 60-inch and 32-inch TV for sale. These are the same sizes as the missing ones from the victim,” the affidavit states.

Court papers state that Hoffer owned the man money, so the man took possession of a TV as payment.

The TVs were identified as the ones missing from the victim’s residence, according to court documents.

Hoffer’s bond was set at $6,000, and his arresting papers list him as unemployed.
