Lady Lancers hang on for win at Goshen

The Lady Lancers held off a fourth quarter rally from the Maple Leafs to clinch the victory by a score of 73-71.
Kyannah Stull starred for Grace. She made a career-high seven 3-pointers, adding the go-ahead free throws for a 26-point performance.
The Lady Lancers (15-8, 6-5 Crossroads League) got off to a slow start, scoring just six points in the first five minutes.
Micaela Box scored to spark the offense, and Grace scored on four straight possessions; Vironnica Drake drilled a 3-pointer to tie the game at 10-10.
Grace went on a 12-3 run as Stull, Box and Maddie Ryman each connected from deep to build a 22-13 lead after one quarter of play.
The Maple Leafs (8-15, 1-10 CL) put together a run of their own to pull within three points early in the second quarter.
However, a pivotal stretch from the Lady Lancers shut down the rally. Lexi Minix buried a 3-pointer and drew an offensive foul.
Ryman capitalized on the turnover by draining a triple to give Grace a 12-point cushion. The Lady Lancers went into halftime with a comfortable 43-32 lead.
Stull led all scorers at the half with 12 points, and Drake had 11 points. Ryman was a perfect 3-of-3 from the 3-point line for nine points.
The Lady Lancers shot 52 percent from the 3-point line and 47 percent from the field in the first half.
Goshen’s offense began to heat up as the third quarter began. Goshen cut the lead to six with four minutes left in the quarter. But Stull responded by burying a triple.
The Maple Leafs would go on another run, but again Stull responded with a 3-point basket.
Goshen’s offensive outburst cut the lead to five points, with Grace ahead 57-52 heading into the final stanza.
A steal from Minix produced a transition three from Drake, putting the Lady Lancers up by nine.
The Maple Leafs kept trimming the deficit, eventually pulling within one point with 1:20 remaining.
After an empty possession from the Lady Lancers, Goshen took the lead 71-70.
With less than 30 seconds left, Stull made a strong play and drew a foul. She knocked down both free throws to take the lead 72-71.
The Lady Lancers’ defense showed intensity on the final possession, forcing Goshen to throw the ball out of bounds on their final drive.
Stull hit a free throw with two seconds left to secure the 73-71 victory.
Drake scored 22 points with four assists and three rebounds. Stull nearly had a double-double, grabbing nine boards and scoring 26 points.
Ryman was 4-of-6 from the 3-point line, finishing with 12 points and three assists. Kamryn Hostetler added five assists.
The Lady Lancers shot 39 percent from the floor and 48 percent from the 3-point line. The defense forced 16 turnovers.
Grace will remain on the road to face No. 21 Huntington this Saturday at 1 p.m.
