Yates, Heckaman Lead Trojans To Win Over Elk. Christian

BOURBON – Tyson Yates was 8-of-11 from the floor and finished with 18 points, and Tyler Heckaman had 14 points for Triton in its 54-41 non-conference win over visiting Elkhart Christian in a non-conference boys basketball game Tuesday night.

Ashton Oviedo had seven points for the host Trojans. Jared Bules added six points, Quentin Amsden hit a three-point shot, with John Gardner, Lucas Cabrera and Keegan Westafer adding two points each.

In the junior varsity game, Bruce Johnson had 17 points, with Cole McKinney and Cabrera adding 11 points each in Triton’s 48-35 win over the Eagles.

Now 8-5 overall, Triton will host North Judson in a Hoosier North Athletic Conference game at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.



Wawasee Blows By Bruins

SYRACUSE – Wawasee bolted to a 20-2 lead after the first quarter, then cruised to a 41-23 win over visiting Bethany Christian in non-conference boys basketball Tuesday night.

Ethan Hardy and Austin Miller led  the host Warriors with 12 points each. Jack Stover tallied eight points, Keaton Dukes added five, with Jaydon Boyer and Collin Roberson adding two points each in the winning cause.

In the junior varsity game, Landon Gause had 11 points, and Gavin Hunziker added nine points for Wawasee in its 40-31 victory over the Bruins. Roberson scored seven points in the contest, with Marten Kent adding five points, and Adam Beer and Mason Possell adding four points each.

Wawasee takes a 9-5 record into Friday’s Northern Lakes Conference game against visiting Concord.



Wagner, Lady Vikings

Roll Past Wawasee

AKRON – Sidney Wagner had 15 of her 21 points after halftime, as Tippecanoe Valley expanded a 10-point lead at intermission to a 69-39 win over visiting Wawasee in non-conference girls basketball action Tuesday.

Kaydence Mellott had 12 points, and Jillian Walls had 11 for the Vikings. The rest of the Valley scoring was Emma Craig, 8, Hayley Backus 6, Karina Young 5,  Ashley Butler 3 and Rily Holloway 3.

For Wawasee, Emily Haines had 10 points, Danielle Jenkins had seven, Becca Smith six and Jada Carter five points. The remainder of the Warrior scorers were Hannah Lancaster with three and Kennedy White, Tate Cowan, Emma Beezley and Lindsay Doss had two points each.

Wawasee won the junior varsity game 33-30. Valley was led by Corinna Stiles with 10 points and Sadie Snapp with seven points. Statistics for the Warriors were not available as of press time.

Valley?(15-6) wraps up its regular season at 7:45 p.m. Thursday with a Three Rivers Conference game at Manchester.

Wawasee wrapped up its regular season with an 8-14 record, and opens play in the Class 3A Lakeland Sectional at 6 p.m. Tuesday against Central Noble. Following that game, Valley takes on NorthWood.



Lady Squires Get Road Win

BLUFFTON – Emma Garriott had 15 points to lead Manchester to a 38-34 girls basketball non-conference win at Bluffton Tuesday.

Ranissa Shambarger added seven points, Makenzie Day had six points, Morgan Parrett had five points in the winning effort. Makenzy Meyer had three points and Bailey Mooney two poits to round out the Manchester scoring.

The junior varsity contest was won 22-11 by Bluffton. Olivia Auler had eight points for Manchester.

The Lady Squires (6-15) host Tippecanoe Valley Thursday in the final host game of the regular season.



LCA Falls To Dragons

WINONA LAKE – Seth Martin and Cameron Shepherd had 11 points each for Lakeland Christian Academy in its 55-37 loss to visiting Argos in Tuesday’s non-conference boys basketball game.

Brayden Lane had five points for the Cougars, with Matthew Helton adding four points, and Landon Paris and Petter Keller adding three points each.

The Dragons won 55-16 in the junior varsity game.

Now 3-15, LCA?is off until Feb. 6 when it hosts Lakewood Park Christian at 7:30 p.m.
