ROCHESTER – Arthur L. “Art” Harper, 89, Rochester, died at 4:05 a.m. Monday, Jan. 27, 2020, at the Peabody Retirement Community of North Manchester.

On April 9, 1930, Arthur Leroy Harper was born in Akron to George L. and Mildred G. Shriver Harper.

Arthur served in the United  States Army during the Korean War. Private 1st Class Arthur L. Harper was a member of Company G, 35th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division. He was wounded in action on September 19, 1951, near Hill 127, Korea.  He was honorably discharged on April 30, 1952, earning the Purple Heart, combat infantry badge and Korean service medal.

Art and Betty Lou Floyd were married on March 28, 1953, in Akron.

A celebration of the life of Arthur L Harper will be at 11 a.m. on today, Jan. 30 in the Good Family Funeral Home,  Rochester. Veterans Service Officer Ric Foust will officiate. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Military honors will be conducted by the Fulton County Veteran’s Honor Guard and the U.S. Army Honors Team.

Interment will be in the Akron Cemetery.
