KLA Cadets Learn About Kosciusko Co. Economics

David Findlay, president and CEO of Lakeland Financial Corp., the parent company of Lake City Bank, presented on macro-economics with a focus on banking. He explained how local banking matters to community development through a commitment to investing in the community. Banks provide a safe place for depositors to keep their money and they also provide loans to help business in the community, according to a news release from KLA.
Rob Parker, CEO of the Kosciusko Chamber of Commerce and executive director of the Warsaw Community Development Corp., presented on how chambers of commerce serve businesses in the community by providing business counseling and education, advocacy at the state government, and networking. He then explained statistics on median incomes, education levels, crime rates and housing in Kosciusko County compared to state and national statistics. Kosciusko County has a high median income level, a high level of bachelor’s degree graduates, low crime rates and a growing housing market.
On Feb. 11, the KLA cadets will meet at the Kosciusko Community Hospital to learn about health care in the county.
The Kosciusko Leadership Academy is in its 37th year of continuous service to the county. As an independent 501-3(c) organization, KLA conducts bi-weekly morning sessions around the county to expose leaders to a wide variety of local topics and experts.
