Locally owned, GetFit 24 is Warsaw’s newest 24-hour gym.

And co-owners Thayne White and Seth Clickovich, president, hope to eventually evolve the gym into a health club. Located at 523 Anchorage Road, Warsaw, it opened Jan. 1.

“We started it because, originally, I was wanting to open up a gym up toward the Elkhart area. There was no sense in me doing it by myself because it was a lot of work,” Clickovich said.

He was working out at the same gym where White was and he jokingly said they should open up a gym sometime. White called his bluff and said, “Let’s do it.” White saw an opportunity in Warsaw and they decided to have the gym here.

White said, “Seth was motivated to open up a gym regardless, and I felt he was going to do so regardless. He had looked at a few other towns, and I said, ‘Hey, if you’re actually looking to open up a gym, let me tell you about Warsaw.’”

White grew up in the area between Warsaw and Nappanee. “Working in Warsaw, I know the demographics and the growth that’s going on here in town, and it’s been phenomenal. And so, because of the demographics, I said we should look at this and take it pretty seriously. And then knowing the competition in town, for this size, there could be more offering, and we’re filling a need, we think. Not only from a 24-hour standpoint, but also some of the other things that when you come in and walk around, you see, convenience-wise, we do a little bit differently.”

One of those things is that GetFit 24 offers free child care for members during staffed hours. The gym has a room devoted to child care, which includes chairs, a television, mats and toys.

White said knowing the demographics of the community, and driving around town and seeing places packed that offer child care, “We made child care a priority and built a separate room for it because of the need for it here in town.”

Another thing it offers is fully prepped meals and supplements to purchase on site. There’s a microwave in the lounge for the meals to be heated, along with couches and televisions in the area.

White said they’ve partnered with Healthy Elite, which also recently opened a location in Warsaw. Healthy Elite’s other shop is in Syracuse. He said they’re a local company that does nutrition, supplements and healthy fully-prepped meals.

“So we kind of make the joke that we’ve got you working out here, we’ve got you eating out here, soon as we can have you sleeping here, we’ll do that,” White said.

Each locker room has three showers, which White says eliminates waiting time and is another convenience.

White said GetFit 24 hired two “amazing” trainers and are looking at adding a nutrition specialist as well or having the trainers also get certified in that. The trainers are Katie Fleshood and Megan Keysor. Clickovich said members can schedule training sessions with them. White said the personal trainer rates are “unbeatable” in town, and they do offer free consultations.

Every employee at GetFit 24 is CPR certified, Clickovich said. “They have to be CPR certified to be employed here. Certified and first aid.”

White said, “We’re not a franchise, we’re locally owned, and that’s something we’re learning more and more people care about. And, the fact that when you come in, you’re dealing with one of us, if not both of us, and we’re the only two who are around to make things better, fix things and make decisions on bringing in new equipment, being aggressive with what we’ve already done – upgrading our equipment within our first two weeks, this is something that happened. So that’s something we think we can distinguish ourselves from here in town by offering that.”

Based on gym equipment available, Clickovich said in town they’re the best “bang for the buck” because “we have every single machine and we also have 30 yards of turf. We have the child care watch. We are 24/7.”

White said the turf is something worth noting because it distinguishes GetFit 24 from other gyms in northern Indiana.

He also noted that the gym has an open concept. “We provide the space and allow you to make your workout how you want it, which is something you don’t really find at some of the places because ... being in a retail space, it’s limited space. We moved into a facility where we can provide space to our advantage,” White said.

Long term, White said, “We are truly getting started. This is phase 1, step 1. We’ve been blessed with a lot of opportunity to grow. If we can create the community and member buy-in that we expect to be able to do, and have already started on, we’re very much just getting started. So if people like us already, we’re excited.”

He said their long-term goal is to be known in Warsaw, probably in the next few years, as a health club versus just a gym.

“What all that entails, we can’t necessarily give out right now, but it’s something we’re very much excited for – being able to bring to the town and really shake things up from an offering standpoint to a community that has the need,” White said.

Staffed hours are 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. during the week; 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday; and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.

“We welcome anybody who wants to just come walk through and then decide,” White said.

Clickovich said monthly membership fee is $29.95, and students are $19.95. A family package is $62.95. There is a one-time joiner activation fee, which in most cases is $40, but through Jan. 31 that is 50% off if you sign up with another person as a pair.

Though GetFit 24 is already opened and accepting members, White said they’re planning a grand opening celebration, tentatively in May. “That will be the largest party in town that weekend,” he said.
