Charles Le Roy Carpenter, age 82, of Etna Green, passed away Friday, Jan. 17, 2020, at 5:19 p.m. in his residence.

He was born June 5, 1937, in Stockbridge, Mich., to Franklin Pierce and Elda Arnett Carpenter. Charles was united in marriage to Mary Creamer at Hoffman Lake in May of 1985. He was a graduate of Rochester High School and was an excavator, retiring in 2000. Charles was an avid fisherman, motorcyclist and enjoyed camping with his family and was a shuffleboard enthusiast.

Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Mary Carpenter; children: John (Teri) Carpenter, Cindy (Ralph) Howard, Ted (Robin) Carpenter, Ivory (Judy) Snipes, Leon (Sandy) Smith; and his sister, Mona Dean (Ron) Flood. In addition, he is survived by 20 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation hours are scheduled from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22 in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, and one hour prior to his funeral service on Thursday, Jan., 23 at 11 a.m. Pastor Glenn Hall will officiate the service with interment in Etna Green Cemetery.
