Miner Announces Candidacy For Superior III Judge

Attorney Chad M. Miner announced his candidacy for judge of Superior Court III.

Originally from the Pierceton area, Miner lives in Silver Lake with his wife of 20 years, Rachel, and works in Warsaw at Miner & Lemon LLP. His family has served Kosciusko County for three generations, according to a news release from Miner.

Miner has served as a delegate to the GOP State Convention and as a precinct committeeman for Lake 1, Lake 2 and Jackson 1 and he has also served on the Silver Lake Town Council since 2011, acting as president of the council for many of those years.

His father, Michael L. Miner, was prosecuting attorney from 1979 to 1990 and GOP county chairman from 1993 to 2001.  And, his grandfather, R. Lloyd Miner, was township trustee for Washington Township for a number of years.

In addition to his legal practice and his time on the Silver Lake Town Council, Chad Miner has been involved in the local community in a number of ways. Miner has served on the board of directors for the Kosciusko Community YMCA, Kosciusko Community Senior Services, Kosciusko Literary Services and the Animal Welfare League of Kosciusko County. Miner is a member of the Warsaw Rotary Club and served as Club president from July 2018 through June 2019.

Miner believes that beyond the personal fulfillment and satisfaction that he has received from his time with the council and nonprofit organizations, he has gained a deeper understanding of the needs and concerns of Kosciusko County and has had an opportunity to participate in a small way with various endeavors that have improved the community, the release states.

Miner has broad legal experience and practices in a variety of areas of the law, including civil litigation, criminal matters, estate planning and administration, business planning and family law matters. He also has served as the county attorney since 2014.

In addition to general legal experience, Miner has experience specifically with Superior Court III where he has represented a number of clients, both individuals and businesses, in a variety of matters and where he has participated in multiple bench trials. Miner has experience acting as judge in Superior Court III, as he has been appointed to serve as judge pro tempore on dozens of occasions over the years, something which he considers to be a great honor and also something which he has enjoyed immensely, the release states.

Miner believes that demeanor and temperament are particularly important for the Superior Court III judgeship because this court acts as the small claims court for the county and, as a result, it is important that the Superior Court III judge be able to deal with cases involving unrepresented folks who are looking for resolution to the everyday controversies that arise, such as landlord-tenant issues, minor contract disputes and other similar low-dollar cases.

The release states that while these cases may be low-dollar (the jurisdictional limit of the small claims court is $6,000) in comparison with many other cases, Miner knows that these cases are nonetheless very important to the litigants involved and that they deserve the opportunity to be heard and to receive a decision that has been given due consideration and thought out carefully.

Miner pledged that if elected, he will endeavor to maintain the good reputation that Superior Court III has for dealing with cases in a fair and expeditious fashion.
