Concerns were heard during December’s meeting surrounding the living conditions at Kline Trailer Court. Jeff McCoy, of Rochester, addressed the council about the inhabitancy of the mobile home court when he was there for a month in 2019, citing things he personally experienced or said other people have experienced, such as electrical, trash, bug and leak issues. McCoy also said part of his bathroom floor was caved in around the tub in the bathroom.
Council member Tim Croy said during December’s meeting he spoke with trailer park owner Bob Kline and was told to take everything he heard with a grain of salt because a lot of the people that lived there owed Kline money.
Town attorney Andrew Grossnickle said Thursday he heard the recordings of December’s meeting. He said there are ordinances on the books in regards to residential areas or properties.
“No owner or other person shall occupy or let to another person in any dwelling or dwelling unit unless it and the premises are clean and sanitary for human occupants,” the ordinance states.
Grossnickle said he or the council would have to contact the county and see who their health officer is and have that person conduct an inspection of the mobile home court. If the inspector decides action needs to be taken, Grossnickle said he or the health inspector would have to contact Kline in regards to any actions that need to be done, if in fact anything needs to be done.
Croy said he could contact a building inspector he used for a separate issue several years ago in regards to doing an inspection. Croy said the council should have the building inspector’s information still on file.
Grossnickle said he and Council President Jill Gross will get together Monday to discuss the next step into finding someone to conduct an inspection of the mobile home court.
Grossnickle also swore in Janick Norris as the new clerk-treasurer. Barb Ross did not seek re-election as clerk-treasurer and retired from the position after about 30 years. After the meeting, the town council had a surprise party for Ross.
The council also unanimously voted to keep Gross as president for 2020.
