BOURBON – Tyson Yates hit eight of 13 shots inside the three-point arc to finish with a game-high 23 points, helping Triton to a 63-45 non-conference win over visiting Knox in the boys basketball regular and Hoosier North Athletic Conference season finale for both teams.

Ashton Oviedo hit all three of his shots from beyond the arc and finished with 13 points. Quentin Amsden hit all four of his free throws on his way to a dozen points. Tyler Heckaman had nine points, with Bruce Johnson and Keegan Westafter each finding the scorebook by hitting a trey.

Jared Bules, Ansden and Heckaman all pulled down four rebounds to lead the Trojans.

Knox’s Cade Short had 15 points, with Gunner Wagner adding 13 and Zac Rose 10 points for the visitors.

In the junior varsity game, Lucas Cabrera had 11 points and eight rebounds, both team highs, for Triton in its 32-24 win over Knox. Cole Mckinney had six points, Chandler Westafer three and Connor Large two to complete the scoring for Triton in the final JV game of the season.

Only postseason success can take Triton away from the Trojan Trench in the postseason, as the school continues a tradition of hosting Class 1A sectional and regional tournaments. The Trojans (12-10, 4-3 HNAC) open its sectional at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday against 0-22 West Central.
