KLA Cadets Get Preview Of Future of Kosciusko County

By Staff Report-

Kosciusko Leadership Academy cadets visited Zimmer Biomet Tuesday where they heard from Kosciusko County Area Plan Commission Director Dan Richard and Kosciusko Economic Development Corp. CEO Alan Tio about the future of Kosciusko County.

Richard presented on planning concerns for the county in the next decade. He went through a brief history of the county and how the area plan commission analyzes, sets goals and implements them through planning tools such as ordinances, incentives and regulations, according to a news release from KLA.

Tio presented on economic development in the county. He went through the successes and challenges facing the county in economic development. The successes include joining a statewide agriculture industry association and the Stonehenge Golf Course.

The main challenges are attracting talent to the area and housing. KEDCo. implements their goals by regularly engaging with businesses and community leaders, cultivating and engaging with steward business builders and community leaders and sharing the business story and economic growth resources of Kosciusko County.

For the next KLA session, the cadets will meet at the Kosciusko Community YMCA to hear about diversity in Kosciusko County.

The Kosciusko Leadership Academy is in its 37th year of continuous service to the county, according to the release. As an independent 501-3(c) organization, KLA conducts biweekly morning sessions around the county to expose leaders to a wide variety of local topics and experts.  The annual whitepaper projects have yielded many benefits to the citizens of Kosciusko County.
