SYRACUSE – Henry “Hank” Waltz, 97, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 27, 2020, at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Brent and Jody Gordon, in Syracuse.

He was born on Sept. 25, 1922, in South Whitley, to Marion and Cora Flaugh Waltz. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and Bronze Star recipient. On Feb. 28, 1944, he married Juanita Bair, who preceded him in 2008. He retired in 1976 from International Harvester. After retirement, he drove motor homes for Barth and worked at the Ace Hardware in North Webster. He was a lifetime member of the North Webster American Legion Post #253, where he was active in the color guard. He was a lifetime member of the South Whitley VFW #2919, lifetime member of the Goshen DAV and member of the Syracuse Eagles.

He is survived by his daughter, Jody (Brent) Gordon, of Syracuse; two sons: Phillip (Diana) Waltz, of Warner Robins, Ga.; and Richard (Linda) Waltz; of Warsaw; son-in-law, Doug Kuilema, of North Webster; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Along with his wife, he was also preceded by his daughter, Jane Kuilema; and two sisters, Juanita and Bernadette.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 4 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Eastlund Funeral Home, Syracuse. Services will be held on Thursday, March 5 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Matt Landry officiating. Interment will follow at the South Whitley cemetery with full military honors.
