Martha Marie Thomas, age 87, and a longtime resident of Warsaw, passed away quietly on Saturday, Feb. 15, 2020, at Canterbury Nursing and Rehabilitation in Fort Wayne.

Born on Jan. 16, 1933, in Bourbon, she was the daughter of Owen E. and Edith Snell Snyder. She was a graduate of Tippecanoe Valley High School and went on to attend Marion College, where she was a music major. She was a bank officer with First National Bank in Warsaw for more than 30 years, retiring in 1996, and was a longtime member of Warsaw Wesleyan Church.

More personally, Martha enjoyed flower gardening, time spent outdoors and loved to laugh. She was one of four Snyder children and was especially close with her sister, Mary. She was a steadfast IU fan and maintained an ongoing wager with Mary, a loyal Ohio State fan, mailing their $5 pot back and forth to the winner.

She loved time spent with family and always hosted big family holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas. Her surviving family includes daughter, Susan Thomas, of Claypool; sons, Greg (Becky) Thomas, of Claypool; and Kris Thomas, of Warsaw. Also surviving are four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

On May 2, 1955, Martha was married to Frank V. Thomas. He preceded her in passing as did two sisters: Phyllis Phillips and Mary Myser; brother, Paul Snyder; and their parents, Owen and Edith Snyder.

A Life Celebration® is planned with Titus Funeral Home, 2000 E. Sheridan St., Warsaw, where visitation will be held on Thursday, Feb. 20 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. On Friday, Feb. 21, a funeral which celebrates Martha’s life will be held at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. with burial following in Warsaw’s Oakwood Cemetery.
