Four area wrestlers earned a place in the 2020 IHSAA State Finals with their semistate performances Saturday.
At East Chicago, Wawasee senior Garrett Stuckman (16-0) went 4-0 with a pin in the finals.
Wawasee junior Jace Alexander (38-2 at 126) and Warsaw junior Jacob Linky (34-4 at 160) both placed third.
Crown Point won the team championship. Wawasee came in ninth, Warsaw 18th and Tippecanoe Valley tied for 36th.
Other area competitors at East Chicago were senior Logan Baugh (170), sophomore Dylan Tom (120) and freshmen Logan Stuckman (106), Hunter Miller (113) and Gavin Malone (138) of Wawasee, seniors Brock Hogenson (132) and Brock Hueber (195), junior Brandon Estepp (182) and sophomore Andrew Ross (126) of Warsaw and sophomores Drake Montelongo (113), Branson McBrier (138) and Brandon Hammer (160) of Triton.
At Fort Wayne, Manchester sophomore Dylan Stroud (35-0 at 126) won his class, winning 3-0 in the championship round.
The top four placers in each weight division earned the right to participate in the first round of the State Finals at 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 21 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. Wrestlers must win Friday to advance to action on Saturday, Feb. 22.
The team champion at Fort Wayne was Western. Manchester tied for 20th.
Seniors Ashton Moore (195) and Bryce Kamphues (285) and juniors Elijah Burlingame (132) and Trescott Duffy (160) also participated for the Squires.
