Call Out Meeting Feb. 26 For Amateur Manchester Civic Band Members

NORTH MANCHESTER – The Manchester Civic Band is getting ready to start its 48th year entertaining North Manchester and surrounding communities with free live music ranging from traditional marches and concert band pieces, to jazz and big band favorites.  The band also plays some newer pop and rock music.
This all-volunteer, amateur band was organized by Harold and Mary Lou Leckrone and their daughter, Pat Egolf, in 1972.  After Harold’s passing in 1987, the band leadership transitioned and eventually Reg Smith took the baton.  After 30+ years directing the band, Reg decided to step back and Samantha (Sam) Howard is now setting the beat.
We gladly welcome any musicians from junior high age on up, and any instruments.  Don’t worry if it has been a while since you played, many came back to band after decades of not playing.  Don’t have an instrument? The band may be able to help in locating one for you to use, rent, or maybe even buy.  We practice once a week on Wednesday nights starting at 7 p.m. ending around 8:30 to 9 p.m. in the Manchester High School Band Room.  Need to come late or leave early?  No problem. Just be here as often and for as long as you can.
The goal is to make great music together, entertain our audiences and make musical friends.  Come join the fun. The  callout meeting is Feb. 26,  7p.m. at the Manchester High School band room. (Double doors at the southeast corner of the building.)
