Wildcats Win Overtime Non-Conference Thriller Over Lakewood Park

AUBURN – Brett Sickafoose led four Whitko Wildcats in double figures with 27 points in a 78-77 over time win at Lakewood Park Christian in a non-conference boys basketball game Saturday.
Drake Lewis nearly matched Sickafoose with 25 points. Clayton Ebbinghouse had 14 points and William Rickerd had 10 for the Wildcats. Cameron Sapp had the remaining two Wildcat points.
Now 7-8 overall, Whitko plays the second of three straight scheduled road games Tuesday, visiting Central Noble in Albion for a non-conference tilt Tuesday.

Cougars Get 4th Win
WINONA LAKE – Seth Martin had 19 points and Brayden Lane had a career-high 16 points for Lakeland Christian Academy in its 53-42 win over Smith Academy of Fort Wayne in non-conference boys basketball action Saturday.
Landon Paris and Cameron shepherd had six points each in the Cougar victory. Peter Koller hit three free throws, Silas Gagnon had a bucket in the second quarter, and Matthew Helton cashed a free throw to round out the LCA scoring.
In the junior varsity game, Josh Nakasone celebrated his birthday with a career-high 13 points in the Cougars’ 49-28 win.
Lakeland Christian (4-16) travels to Career Academy of South Bend  at 7:30 p.m. Thursday for a Hoosier Plains Conference game.

Trojans Fall In OT
FULTON – After leading by as many as 10 points in the second quarter, Triton dropped a 60-52 decision in overtime to host Caston in a Hoosier North Athletic Conference boys basketball game Saturday.
Ashton Oviedo led a trio of Trojans in double figures with 16 points. Tyson Yates had 14 points and Tyler Heckaman had 11 points to go with a team-high five rebounds.
Quentin Amsden had seven points and John Gardner added four points to balance out the Triton scorebook.
Caston’s Hunter Schanlaub led all scorers with 26 points.
In the junior varsity tilt, the Trojans outscored the host Comets 34-19 in the second half to blow open a two-point ballgame at halftime, winning 48-31. Cole McKinney had 11 points, with Connor Large and Cameron Shively scoring eight points each.
Triton (9-7, 2-3 HNAC) travels  to Lakeville at 7:30 p.m. Friday to take on conference-leading LaVille (12-5, 4-1).

Braves Hold Off Vikings
BUNKER HILL – After a slow start, Tippecanoe Valley mounted a comeback effort that fell short in a 69-60 Three Rivers Conference boys basketball loss at Maconaquah Saturday.
Senior Tanner Trippiedi exploded for 28 points, and threatened to pull off a triple-double, getting nine rebounds and seven assists. Freshman Paul Leasure added 16 points for Valley.
The junior varsity game went to Valley 43-32. Brendyn Stump led the Vikings with 24 points despite playing just three quarters. Landon Walters added six points.
Tippecanoe Valley (7-11, 2-6 TRC) hosts North Miami (0-7, 4-13 TRC) Friday.

The next fastest sectional contestants to fill the field of 32 also qualify for state. In the event a tie exists for the 32nd position, the tie stands and both contestants advance.
