The Lake City Skiers won the 2019 National Show Ski Association Presidents’ Award for its efforts in running the Division I National Tournament last summer. In a statement, NSSA President Doug Ribley said, “The Lake City Skiers, were a first-time selection for the 2019 Division I Show Ski Nationals Tournament. The teams home site is Hidden Lake in Warsaw, Indiana. The team has shared a long-time vision of one day hosting the premier show ski event at their home site. At the 2017 NSSA Fall Board Meeting, the board made this vision a reality by awarding the tournament bid to the Lake City Skiers for the first time. Although the Hidden Lake site had been the location for fun tournaments, the Central Region and Division II National tournaments, The Division I Nationals tournament presented a huge challenge with tremendous planning, logistical considerations and multiple site preparation projects. The Lake City Skiers came together with backing of the community and masterfully thought through every detail of the tournament and flawlessly deployed a plan that brought the site and the participant/spectator experience to a new level. This included starting docks, parking areas, bleachers, pavilion relocation and official's platform to name a few. They also introduced some new value-added features such as tractor/trailer transport, golf cart rentals, etc. The team could not have been more accommodating and the weekend was enjoyable and a tremendous success. The Lake City Skiers leadership and team membership an outstanding job as a tournament LOC, especially being a first-time bid winner for this world - class event. The sport recognizes and appreciates the outstanding effort on the part of the Lake City Skiers.” In the photo above are Lake City team members Jaceb Burish, Lauren Burish, Caleb Patrick and Ribley.
