The open house targeted disabled people and those 62 and older, since those are the people who are qualified to live in the apartments, but anyone was invited to the open house, said property manager Brandon Prater.
The point of the open house was so people can come in to see the improvements the apartment complex has made, as well as what benefits and services they provide for the 82 apartments.
“The property has gone through a lot of changes throughout the last year, year-and-a-half with management, maintenance, the entire staff has been completely revamped and we’ve made a lot of improvements throughout,” said Prater, saying the changes were made due to new management as he’s been property manager for the last 1-1/2 years.
Some of the improvements Prater mentioned included a new elevator contractor where it gets maintained on a monthly basis. The elevator had been broken down for a while. Other changes include new flooring, new paint and an upgraded security system that’s throughout the apartment complex that makes the property “more secure for the residents.”
The last thing Prater said was improved was the apartment complex’s emergency evacuation routes.
“Now everything is clearly labeled, and the fire department comes in once a year and they do a complete fire drill and evacuation with us as a test, and we’ve done that this year,” he said.
This is the first open house Retired Tigers has had and there no current plans for another one. During the open house, people could see a model apartment.
Tables were set up in the apartment complex’s community room for people to get information on what services are available for seniors in the community. Services that had tables included Kosciusko Home Care & Hospice, Kosciusko Community Senior Services, Pill Box Pharmacy, Paddock Springs and REAL Services.
