NORTH MANCHESTER - Two seconds. Two points.

The Manchester Squires were that close Saturday night to getting their first win under new coach Eli Henson.

In a varsity boys basketball game against the visiting Huntington North Vikings, the Squires fell 55-53 after the guests hit a jumper with a little more than two seconds remaining in the game.

The Squires, who lost 51-48 to Oak Hill in their last game on Nov. 28, fell to 0-3 on the season.

Huntington North improved to 3-1 after winning its third straight game.

In their previous two games, the Vikings overcame a 21-point deficit to beat Warsaw 54-45 on Dec. 5, and then held off Mississinewa 57-56 on Tuesday.

Manchester led 19-14 after one quarter of play Saturday, and then held a 30-24 advantage at halftime.

The Vikings outscored the hosts 19-12 in the third quarter to take a 43-42 lead into the final frame.

The teams were tied at 52 with 1:32 remaining, and were knotted again at 53 after each team converted a free throw.

Zach Hubartt led Huntington North with 19 points, while teammates Will Hotchkiss and Sam Thompson chipped in with 17 and 13 points, respectively.

Weston Hamby paced the Squires with 19 points and six assists, while Cade Jones and Maddox Zolman tallied 12 points each, and Brayden Jones chipped in with eight points.
