Born Lora Lea Binkley on Oct. 12, 1937, in Derby, Ohio, she was the daughter of Smith and Ruth Fast Binkley. She graduated from Central High School in downtown Columbus with the class of 1955. In November of that same year, she was united in marriage to Floyd Theodore Chapman; known, to most as “Ted,” her husband survives in Winona Lake.
Lora was a loving, caring person with a true talent for embroidery, making quilts for grandchildren and special friends. She enjoyed travelling and reading, especially mysteries and thrillers. Nothing was more important to Lora than her family and her faith - she attended Winona Lake Grace Brethren Church.
Those who survive with memories to cherish include her husband, Ted Chapman, of Winona Lake; and their daughters: Beverly Rogers, of South Bend; Deb (Jim) Fivecoate, of Mentone; and Joy (David) Rieke, of Plano, Ill.; son, David (Gail) Chapman, of Warsaw; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Also surviving are Lora’s sister, Jean (Jim) Matheny; and brother, Kenneth (Jean) Binkley.
She was preceded in passing by her son-in-law, Larry Rogers; and her parents.
Titus Funeral Home is assisting the family with private interment in Oakwood Cemetery. A memorial service is being planned though date and time of the service have not been announced.
