N. Webster Library Director Retiring
By Staff Report-
Frank first took the helm of North Webster Library in April 1990. Under her 30 years of leadership, the library has grown from a small volunteer entity to a tax-supported public library connected to the statewide Indiana Evergreen Library System, according to a news release from the library.
When she began her career, the library was housed in a small room inside the Tippecanoe Township building with two employees, an annual budget of $12,000 and a 15,000-book collection. In April 2004, the library moved into larger rented quarters inside the North Webster Community Center. This past July, the library opened its new 20,000-square-foot, free-standing facility that houses a collection of over 53,000 items along with technological services and a staff of 15 employees.
A Pennsylvania native, Frank moved to North Webster in 1989. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Indiana-Purdue Fort Wayne and a master’s degree in library science from Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis. She is a 20-year member of Lakeland Kiwanis Club, having served as president and vice president. She is also active in Northeast Indiana Libraries Serving Communities. In 2013, she was named Person of the Year by North Webster Tippecanoe Township Chamber of Commerce.
“I’m humbly grateful for the privilege of serving the North Webster community for 30 years,” said Frank. “I’m leaving with confidence knowing the library is in the capable hands of dedicated staff and board members who are committed to serving our patrons and furthering the mission of North Webster Community Public Library.”
Notes of appreciation for Frank’s service may be sent to North Webster Community Public Library, P.O. Box 825, North Webster, IN 46555.
