Karra Suzanne Stevens, 30, of 721 S. CR 450E, Pierceton, was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail at 8:20 p.m. Nov. 21 and faces charges for possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony; resisting law enforcement, a Level 6 felony; and possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor.
According to the probable cause affidavit filed Tuesday in Kosciusko Circuit Court, on Nov. 21 officers responded to a call about a woman acting strange and walking around with a bag of white powder.
Upon arrival at the residence, officers spoke with Stevens who appeared to be paranoid and confused, according to court papers. Stevens kept digging in her pockets and eventually followed orders to remove her hands. When Stevens did remove her hands, according to the affidavit, she was holding a meth pipe and refused to give it to the officer.
The officer eventually got the pipe from Stevens and placed her in handcuffs, but as he was cuffing her, he noticed she was hiding a bag of methamphetamine in her arm sleeve.
When police spoke with the residents of the home, they told police that Stevens had walked in and asked where her friends were, sat down on a bed, pulled out a meth pipe and asked for a lighter. When the two people at the home refused to give her a lighter, Stevens went to the bathroom and the people called police, according to the affidavit.
As police were preparing to put Stevens in the back of the patrol car to take her to jail, she allegedly fought with them and at one point dug her nails into the officer, leaving red marks on his skin.
Once at the jail, Stevens ran from the jail booking station and it took jail staff and the officer to restrain her. During the booking process, police also located another plastic bag of methamphetamine that was on the seat where Stevens was sitting.
Her bond was set at $5,250.
